Hmmm... that is odd. What format are you writing in that
thrashes your disk? I know for a fact that I don't open/write/close/
open/etc. in the output routines. In the TIFF output module, I may
perform some fseek()'s, but I would have to go back and look at that
section to be certain. I'm surprised to hear that you are getting
this poor performance for file output!

now your chances of getting through are much better. Please try again
